WIND SONG is a custom built one off Bugeye Ketch. She is stunning and harkens back to a bygone era. Built with a solid fiberglass hull she is a breeze to handle with Marconi rigged self tacking sails and easy to maintain!

Featuring a large, open cockpit she is set up for comfortable, easy and safe handling. Having just returned in June from a 7 month trip down the ICW to Key West and back she is in top condition and looking for her next owner. Her current owners have sailed her for over a decade and completed many extensive upgrades. She is fast, elegant and perfect for day sailing, weekending or extended cruising.

Traditional in appearance but with a contemporary underbody, Wind Song is unique!

Engine and Mechanicals

  • 45 Gallon aluminum diesel tank with racor primary filtration.

    She cruises at 6.5 knots at 2750 RPM while burning .6 gallons/hr of diesel.  Top speed is 7.5 knots at 3500 RPM

 

Sails and rigging
  • Sails are “Egyptian Cream” with lazy jacks and stack packs by Doyle Annapolis 2010.
  • Hollow aluminum spun tapered spars were refinished and painted with awl grip in 2010
  • Self tacking jib with club boom and Harken roller furler.
  • All standing rigging was replaced in 2010 by Oxford Boatyard.

  • Performance under sail: 

  • Reaching over 7.5 knots for an extended time in the open ocean. She surfs at over 8 knots on swells. On a 135 degree reach, she will sail half the true wind speed in flat water!

 

Construction

Hull Built of solid fiberglass, hand laid using Sea-flex lath over a male mold. Bottom soda blasted and five barrier coats applied in 2018. No sign of blisters.

In 2016, teak decks and substrate were removed and new decks were installed with non skid paint by Cutts and Case.

Impeccable craftsmanship and joiner work throughout.
